Improving Criminal Justice Responses SANE Training Scholarship Application

The Office of Crime Victim Services (OCVS) is pleased to announce the availability of training scholarship funds through Improving Criminal Justice Responses grant from the Office on Violence Against Women.

The purpose of this grant is to build on existing partnerships and initiatives to implement a comprehensive, statewide strategy to improve the criminal justice response to sexual assault by providing training and technical assistance for law enforcement and prosecutors, as well as their collaborative Sexual Assault Response Teams (SART) partners.

Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE’s) are essential SART partners who play a critical role in initiating the collaborative multidisciplinary response to survivors.

Scholarships for nurses are available to cover expenses for:

  • Registration to attend DOJ’s SANE training
  • Lodging, mileage, and meal reimbursement (at the state rate) for nurses to attend DOJ SANE training
All applications will be reviewed by OCVS staff, and a scholarship award determination will be made within two weeks of submission. Those individuals awarded scholarship funds are responsible for making all event arrangements, including registration, travel, and lodging reservations. All scholarships are based on reimbursement of allowable expenses, after attending the approved event. Requests for reimbursement must be accompanied by all supporting documentation.

For questions relating to this scholarship application, or allowable expenses and events, please contact Susan Kanack, BSN, RN, SANE-A, SANE-P, State SANE/Forensic Nurse Coordinator email or 608-264-6214.
