The PREPaRE 2 Workshop - National Association of School
Psychologists (NASP) - Crisis Intervention and Recovery: The Roles of
School Mental Health Professionals.
This two-day workshop reviews crisis intervention and recovery.
Participants learn to prevent psychological trauma that can be avoided,
learn to focus on helping to reaffirm physical safety for those affected,
learn to evaluate the degree to which individuals have suffered
psychological trauma, provide, and respond to psychological needs, and
evaluate the effectiveness of the crisis response and recovery
efforts.
Comprehensive School Safety: Standard Response Protocol
(SRP) and Standard Reunification Method (SRM). The Office of School Safety will present a model of
comprehensive school safety and introduce SRP and SRM in this four-hour
block. These procedures are practical, action based, responses given
to any situation within a school community. The six specific actions
performed after an incident include Hold, Secure, Lockdown, Evacuate,
Shelter, and Reunify. The SRM is utilized to reunite students with
parents and guardians after an emergency or crisis.
Community Circling, Care for the Caregiver, CIR
Resources and Toolkit.
This session will allow participants an opportunity to learn and
understand the various resources that are included in the CIR Toolkit,
provide opportunities for practical application, learn about Community
Circling, discuss strategies to overcome potential barriers to successful
crisis response. Participants should be prepared to discuss the
local resources that may be available within their specific region.
