Program Materials

Course Reference Materials:

 Highly recommended materials to be supplied by student

o NFPA 1003 (2022 Edition)

o NFPA921 (2021 Edition)

Note:  Limited instructor copies will be available for reference during the course


Provided upon acceptance to the class:  

o   Fire Investigator: Principles and Practice to NFPA 921 and 1033 


Required Equipment:

Required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):

o   Hard hat or helmet

o   Safety glasses

o   Working gloves and/or firefighting gloves

o   Work boots with steel shank – structural firefighting boots recommended

o   Long sleeve shirt and pants

o   Respiratory protection

  1. Classroom:  We will notify you of any current COVID-19 guidelines before the start of class. 
  2. Burn Cell Site: a tested/fitted air purifying respirator with combination particulate/chemical cartridges is highly recommended due to the potential for particulate and gas inhalation hazards

 

Other Required Equipment/Supplies:

o   Note taking materials

o   Flashlight/headlamp

o   Laptop computer

o   8GB or larger USB thumb drive

 

Recommended Equipment:

o   Clipboard

o   Graph paper

o   Digital camera

o   Tape measure

o   Pencil, pens, tabs, highlighters, etc.


*While the situation involving COVID-19 has improved in Wisconsin, it remains a serious health concern.  The DCI will continuously monitor COVID-19 trends and may be required to make further modifications if deemed appropriate.  The DCI will make all reasonable efforts to comply with State and Local orders and CDC guidelines concerning COVID-19 to reduce the risk of spread and/or exposure. 

Participants that are known COVID-19 positive, have been in close personal contact with a person within the preceding 14 days that was confirmed to be COVID-19 positive, are sick or are exhibiting signs of being sick will not be allowed to attend/continue.
