How Forensic Genetic Genealogy Was Used to Solve a 35 Year Old Cold Case Homicide

The session is a case study of the 1984 homicide of an 18 year-old female in Ozaukee County, Wisconsin.  Special Agent McGrath and his partners worked almost 15 years together on the case, employing every traditional investigative technique as they attempted to identify a suspect.  It wasn’t until they utilized genetic genealogy working with S/A Sarah Deamron and the FBI Forensic Genetic Genealogy (FGG) Team that they were able to finally solve the case.  This session will introduce participants to basic genetic genealogy and how it was used in this homicide case.

Presented by FBI Agent Sarah Deamron and DCI Special Agent Neil McGrath
