Wisconsin Forensic Interview Guidelines Training

Wisconsin Rapids - May 15-19, 2023

1. A signed letter from your supervisor (you cannot submit the application without it)

2. How many forensic interviewers there are in your jurisdiction

3. How many forensic interviews you expect to conduct on a quarterly basis

4. Information on where forensic interviews will be conducted

5. If your agency has a signed MOU or Protocol with a CAC, you will need their support prior to acceptance.

Please submit your application for the Wisconsin Forensic Interview Guidelines (WIFIG) training, sponsored by the Wisconsin Department of Justice, Children's Justice Act. Due to limited space, not all applicants will be accepted. All applications will be reviewed after the application closing date of Friday, April 14, 2023. Qualifying candidates will receive an email with registration information and a link to additional materials.

This five-day, interactive program is designed to introduce participants to the Wisconsin Forensic Interview Guidelines. Learners will develop forensic interview skills by increasing their knowledge of the process of disclosure, the impact of language and development, effects of trauma, and question strategies that contribute to dynamics of memories and suggestibility. Learners will also engage in practice opportunities for conducting developmentally appropriate forensic interviews of alleged child abuse victims or children who have witnessed abuse or violence. All content will be reflected in the concept that forensic interviews have the purpose of gathering accurate information from children about events they experience.
