SANE Seminar for the Adult, Adolescent & Pediatric PopulatioN 
Spring 2024 Session   

This 64-hour blended learning seminar prepares the Registered or Advanced Practice Nurse with the minimum education necessary to begin practice as a forensic nurse examiner (FNE) in the state of Wisconsin and treat all populations. 

Specific clinical and evidence-based standards of forensic nursing practice, as established by the International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN) and Forensic Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice will be taught, as well as concepts such as sexual violence, child maltreatment, trauma and crisis intervention. Skills such as evidence collection, forensic photography and courtroom testimony will be introduced, and population specific considerations such as caring for LGBTQIA+, the disabled and communities of color will be covered.  In addition, Wisconsin statutes pertinent to forensic nursing practice will be woven throughout the course.
