The Wisconsin Department of Justice, Office of Crime Victim Services (OCVS) Virtual Introductory Training for Victim Service Providers (ITVSP) offers the opportunity to acquire essential skills and knowledge needed to assist victims of crime more effectively. 

OCVS ITVSP Sessions: 

Enforcement of Crime Victims’ Rights & Marsy’s Law in Wisconsin
Crime Victim Compensation (CVC)
Sexual Assault Forensic Exam (SAFE) Fund
Safe at Home

You must attend the virtual training, review the OCVS ITVSP three (3) session topic videos and one (1) module (once registered you will receive an email with instruction to access videos), and complete a brief post-test to confirm your knowledge of the information provided to receive participation credit and a certificate of completion for this training. The post-test link will be given to you at the end of the training. 

Upon attending the training and passing the post-test the Certificate of Completion will be emailed to you within two (2) to four (4) weeks.

This training meets the three-year training requirement for SAVS, VOCA, and VAWA grant funded agencies. The OCVS training is FREE.

This training is in collaboration with the Wisconsin Coalition Against Sexual Assault (WCASA) - The Sexual Assault Victim Advocacy School (SAVAS) addresses the basics of being a victim advocate — answering the crisis line, providing individual and systems advocacy and providing outreach in your community. Participants will have opportunities to practice skills necessary to provide comprehensive advocacy for victims. New sexual assault victim advocates and domestic violence victim advocates who are staff of Sexual Assault Service Providers (SASPs) are encouraged to attend. SAVAS will run from 9am-11am and 1pm-3pm Tuesday through Thursday, March 5-7 and 12-14. March 2024 Sexual Assault Victim Advocacy School (SAVAS) Registration is open. Click here to learn more.
